1st January: New Years Day bridge jump at Mappleton

Have fun watching or taking part in the jump from the bridge at Mappleton nr. Ashbourne. Jump usually 12.00 noon.

Royal Shrove Tide Football 

Ancient game of football played between ‘uppers’ and ‘downers’ depending on which side of the river you live. A hand made exquisitely painted leather ball is thrown up by a local or famous figure at 2.00pm each day from Ashbourne Shaw Croft car park.The game goes on until around 10.00pm in the evening. Goal posts are around 2 miles apart, at Sturston Mill and Clifton,  anyone can play with hundreds in each team- no real rules, prepare to get wet. Great fun not to be missed.

Held on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday each year.

Ashbourne Arts Festival

Ashbourne Town centre is  awash with culture and events for 2 weeks every year.  The Ashbourne Arts Team  have been working hard all year behind the scenes to secure funding and to find a mix of  all art forms, entertainment and theater, poetry and music, comedy and workshops for everyone to enjoy  at all ages. From the 16th June 2017 until 2nd July 2017 make sure to set some time aside to enjoy all that is on offer.

The 17th and 18th June 2017 will be the Ashbourne Street Fest. with street performers from all over the world here to entertain you, A free event for all the family held throughout the main streets and market square of this historic town.

Ashbourne Arts Festival

The festival continues until 2nd July 2017 finishing on the 2nd with the traditional ‘Picnic in the Park’ on Ashbourne Park, a free event to relax and enjoy the music, have a dance and bring along your own picnic to party with friends.

Bakewell Show

First Wednesday and Thursday in August each year.

Two day large agricultural show on Bakewell Showground. 6000 entries in more than 700 competative classes. Floral art, food and farming, cattle, sheep, chickens,pigeons, rabbits, goats, horses, dogs, ferrets, army, vintage vehicles, trade stands.

Small agricultural show in the grounds of the private Osmaston Estate. Cattle, sheep, horses, jumping. Trade and craft stalls. Held on a Saturday mid August – 19th August 2017
