New Years Day bridge jump at Mappleton.
Have fun watching or taking part in the jump from the bridge at Mappleton nr. Ashbourne. Jump usually 12.00 noon. | |
FEBRUARY Royal Shrove Tide Football- held on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday each year.
Ancient game of football played between 'uppers' and 'downers' depending on which side of the river you live. A hand made exquisitely painted leather ball is thrown up by a local or famous figure at 2.00pm each day from Ashbourne Shaw Croft car park.The game goes on until around 10.00pm in the evening. Goal posts are around 2 miles apart, anyone can play with hundreds in each team- no real rules, prepare to get wet. Great fun not to be missed. |

Two day large agricultural show on Bakewell Showground. 6000 entries in more than 700 competative classes. Floral art, food and farming, cattle, sheep, chickens,pigeons, rabbits, goats, horses, dogs, ferrets, army, vintage vehicles, trade stands.
