Meadow Cottage is a lovely, particularly spacious detached cottage which sleeps six (plus a cot) in a quiet location, nestled in 21 acres of idyllic countryside surrounded by lush green fields and trees. Ideal for getting away from it all! However nearby there is much to do and see all year round. It has been recently converted into a 4 star self catering holiday cottage near Ashbourne and is owner maintained and cared for.
Meadow Cottage is set on Shawley Farm a non-working farm, well away from the nearest road. Located in the Derbyshire Dales it is ideally situated to explore Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The village of Roston and the surrounding area is nicely positioned in quiet country lanes, yet is convenient for the A50, which is 10 miles away. Ashbourne is only 7 miles away and Alton Towers 6 miles. Meadow Cottage offers peace and quiet for couples, yet is a haven for children too.
Meadow Cottage is also ideal for those with differing abilities, the cottage is accessed into the large kitchen by a single step, and a ramp is available. The kitchen, large lounge/dining room, bathroom and main bedroom are all on one level making for easy access. The second and third bedrooms are twin rooms accessed by two small steps. The cottage is very warm having double glazing and full oil fired central heating. Meadow Cottage is, of course, a no smoking holiday cottage.

Derbyshire is the perfect playground for walkers, cyclists, nature lovers and adrenalin seekers. If you are looking for active adventure there is a huge range to choose from including walking, cycling, climbing, water sports, paragliding, plus many activities centres where you can have a taster session or an active break.
Asbourne is a small, pretty market town of great character set in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales.
Ashbourne and the surrounding area is steeped in history and culture.The area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and outdoor pursuits and wildlife.
Two markets are held weekly in the town on Thursdays and Saturdays. Several specialists food shops sell local cheeses and meats. There are numerous antique shops,craft and art galleries. Ashbourne has many boutique and designer clothes shops.
Within Ashbourne and the surrounding area there are many excellant places to eat and drink from cafes,quaint teashops,cosy pubs, to winebars and renouned restaurants.
Ashbourne also has a golf course,swimming pool and leisure centre.

Meadow holiday cottage is centrally situated for days out to Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, Chester, Stratford-upon-avon, and some costal resorts are a possibility for a day trip. The cottage is approximately 20 miles from Donnington Park, due to open for Formula One racing in 2010.
The local pub is in walking distance being less then one mile. Walk to and explore the delights of the River Dove.
The nearest shop is two miles at Rocester.The larger supermarkets being in Ashbourne and Uttoxeter.Uttoxeter (6 miles) has a train station and a new super bowl and cinema. Uttoxeter sports a horse racing track too.
The cathedral city of Derby is 17 miles away and now has the large shopping centre 'Westfields'. Derby being famous for its Royal Crown Derby china.

From A50 leave to join the A515 to Ashbourne, at Cubley crossroads turn left sign posted for Marston Montgomery, ignore first right hand turn to Roston. Take the second right for Roston. At the first property on the right a bungalow take the driveway in between this property and the large detached house next door, Meadow Cottage is located at the top of the drive way before the main house.
